Search Queries
A name or location entered in a search tool is transmitted to the outside provider that operates that tool. The provider processes the request and supplies its response. We do not keep or log those search terms on our own systems.
Messages and Contact Submissions
An email may be retained for the purpose of sending a reply. It remains within our organization unless disclosure is required by law.
Data We Gather Automatically
When a page loads, servers may automatically receive basic technical information about the visit:
- Page-view dates and times
- Visited pages and the length of each visit
- Device type and operating system
- Browser name and version
- Referring website, when one is supplied
- The device's assigned IP address
Cookies and Analytics

No Criminal-Record Data on File
Oneida County Criminal History does not maintain, compile, or sell a database of personal criminal records. It identifies official access routes through the Oneida County Sheriff, the local courts, the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services, and the New York State Sex Offender Registry. It is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, and visitor data is not assembled into consumer reports or third-party criminal files.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies operate the search boxes. Information submitted there is governed by that provider's privacy policy rather than this policy. Each provider chooses its own retention and disclosure practices. Read those terms before sending a query.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to sheriff, court, state agency, legal-aid, or third-party search websites. Once a visitor leaves this domain, the destination's privacy policy controls. Review it before disclosing personal information.
Advertising companies may use their own systems to follow activity across websites and select targeted ads.
Who Might See Your Data
Personal data is not sold. Limited information may be available to:
- Analytics providers measuring traffic and performance
- Search companies processing a submitted query
- Advertising networks serving page ads
- Government or law-enforcement bodies acting under a valid legal order
How We Protect Your Data
Reasonable, standard safeguards are used for collected data. No internet system can guarantee perfect security, so a breach can never be ruled out.
Users Under 18
The service is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18. Information identified as belonging to a minor will be deleted when brought to our attention.
Your Data Rights
Applicable New York consumer-protection law, including General Business Law §349, may provide additional rights depending on the facts and the visitor's residence. A visitor may:
- Object to certain forms of processing
- Request deletion of retained personal information
- Ask for correction of inaccurate data
